We´re a family of four from San Francisco and loved our stay at La Faula and plan to return. Other guests have very good descriptions of what can be expected there, but for us the following were the highlights:
- hospitality: within minutes of arriving we felt at home. Paul and Luca and volunteers and other guests help create a very warm, relaxed, welcoming environment.
- meals and refreshments: breakfasts and lunches were very good and fun socially with Paul as the convivial host. We enjoyed the wines, coffee, hot chocolate and grappa very much. The setting under the trellis is fantastic at meal times.
- the setting: the views on the web site are great, but the property and surroundings are more beautiful than we expected. The rooms are well appointed and very comfortable. We miss the tranquility there.
- location: there are so many wonderful places to visit within a 1-2 hour drive or train ride: Venice, Trieste, Slovenia and Croatia (Istria); even closer we loved exploring Udine and the great wine country and villages of Friuli. In Gradisca D´Isonzo the trattoria Alle Viole was superb.
- the animals. Our children enjoyed seeing all the farm animals, and really loved playing with the border collies. As a result of our stay there we now have a border collie at home. Need I say more?!
